MPS MP5516 PMIC: Enterprise SSD Power Management with E-Fuse & Backup
The MP5516 is an enterprise-grade power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed by Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) specifically for solid-state drives (SSDs). It integrates an electronic fuse (E-Fuse) switch, a bidirectional buck-boost converter, and energy storage management functionality. In the event of input power failure, the device seamlessly transitions to energy storage mode, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the system.

Performance Parameters:
Input voltage range: 2.65 V to 16 V
E-Fuse current limit: Adjustable from 1.2 A to 6 A
Low on-resistance MOSFET: 20 mΩ
Overvoltage protection: Configurable across three levels—3 V, 5 V, and 12 V
Low RDS(ON) internal MOSFETs: 60 mΩ (high-side), 37 mΩ (low-side)
Maximum energy storage voltage: Up to 36 V
Switching frequency: Fixed at 600 kHz
Operating temperature range: –40 °C to +125 °C
